I like to sculpt. I like to bake. It’s inevitable that my family and friends have to celebrate birthdays and special occasions with weird cakes whether they like it or not.
(That’s not really true. I will make normal cakes on request, but served with a side of guilt for not letting me be weird.)
Zero from The Nightmare Before Christmas
My first light-up cake! His nose is an orange ping-pong ball with a tiny LED inside, and his head and tail are Rice Krispies treats.

The Succulent Garden
Everything is edible except the toothpicks that hold the fondant plants to the cake. The round cacti are cake pops.

Cute-thulhu
When the 10-year-old wants a Cthulhu cake but you don’t want to make it too gross to eat.

Athena Coin
Simple but so fun to carve and paint the coin!

Looshkin
A comics character known as “The Maddest Cat in the World.”

Super Smash Bros
Lucario has kicked Mario right out of the game…

Movie Night
The popcorn boxes are also cupcakes (and the “popcorn” is made of marshmallows)

Disco Ball
For a performer who loves all things pink and sparkly

Ticking Bomb
The bomb itself collapsed a little, but the suitcase held up pretty well. The kids solved the puzzle with 7 seconds to spare!

A Very Large Iguana
This guy was the most fun to sculpt

Salazar Slytherin’s Locket
With failed work-in-progress shots of the attempt at making a faceted face out of sheets of caramelized sugar…

Millennium Falcon Escape!
Possibly the nerdiest of all the nerdy cakes I’ve made

Hogwarts Books
And the Marauders’ Map (hand-drawn on edible paper and stuck to a fondant parchment)

Mystery Machine
With some rather flat tires because I ran out of cake height!

Miscellaneous cakes
And various other edible art projects
